Why is bakuchiol better than retinol?
The fact that retinol is a celebrated active substance against ageing and a "MUST HAVE" of recent years probably does not need to be repeated. It is a substance that can deal with pigment spots and small wrinkles very effectively. However, retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, has its own specifics: it has strong exfoliating effects, so it can irritate the skin, increase its sensitivity and redness, and it must not be used in the sun. It is not suitable for sensitive skin or skin with rosacea, acne or eczema. Due to its strong exfoliating effects, it should not be combined with other exfoliating products that contain e.g. acids or vitamin C.
These are the reasons that have now led the representatives of the European Union to impose a very strict restriction from December 2023 and only a fraction (0.03 - 0.05%) of retinol can be used from the 1% concentration in skin care, which will significantly reduce efficiency. Fortunately, there is also an alternative - BAKUCHIOL - a purely plant-based, non-irritating substance that is just as effective!
Bakuchiol is a plant substance, naturally found in the seeds of the Indian plant Psoralea corylifolia, called bakuchi in Sanskrit. It stimulates the skin`s own collagen synthesis and accelerates its regeneration, helping to improve skin cell turnover, which makes the skin smoother and more radiant.
